Romina

Border Collie · Female · Adult · 7 years

Border Collie Romina – now it's your turn Sometimes the moms are a bit overshadowed by their babies. Everyone looks at the little fur babies, cheers for them, and wishes them the very best home. But behind these puppies is a mom who deserves to be seen and loved just as much. And that mom is Romina. Romina is a beautiful Border Collie female dog, and she is the mom of our puppies, for whom we have already been able to find loving families. Her story led her from a seizure in Spain to us. While her babies were already on their way to their new lives, Romina had to wait. Wait for the official release. Wait for the door to a better future to finally open for her. And now it's finally time: Romina is allowed to look for her own home. She has lovingly and caringly taken care of her puppies and was a wonderful mom to them. Now we sincerely wish that someone just as loving would be there for her. Romina is initially a rather shy and reserved female dog. She doesn't push herself forward and needs a moment to assess a situation and the people in it. But she can be approached, you can get close to her, and you can also pet her. Behind her cautious nature is a very charming female dog who simply needs people who give her time and don't overwhelm her. That's why we're looking for a home for Romina with empathetic people who don't expect everything to work out from day one. People who give her security, show her the world at her own pace, and enjoy gaining her trust step by step. As a Border Collie, Romina naturally also brings the characteristics of an intelligent and sensitive breed. Her future people should enjoy not only physically, but also mentally meaningful utilization – without overwhelming her with too many stimuli and expectations. After everything she's been through, Romina should just be allowed to arrive now. Romina would also be very happy about a foster home. Here's the link to Romina's video

About Romina

What life with Romina looks like

Romina is a adult border collie dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
