Romy & Sissi

Female · Young · 3 years

Romy & Sissi (weighing approximately 2.3kg and 2.5kg, both female) were secured by the veterinary office. Upon arrival, both rabbits were overweight, had scaly fur, and Sissi's intimate area was covered in feces and severely infected. Currently, they have lost weight and have improved their health. They are curious but still somewhat shy. With patience and calmness, one can earn their trust. They get along very well with each other, so we will only place them as a pair. Romy & Sissy are currently housed indoors. If you are interested, please contact us via email () and include a few photos of your rabbit enclosure directly.

DE·Show original

Romy & Sissy wohnen derzeit in Innenhaltung. Bei Interesse kontaktieren Sie uns bitte per E-mail () und fügen direkt ein paar Fotos von Ihrem Gehege hinzu.

About Romy & Sissi

What life with Romy & Sissi looks like

Romy & Sissi is a small young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

Note from the shelter: Recovered from health issues including being overweight, scaly fur, and inflammation. Need to be adopted as a bonded pair.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romy & Sissi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romy & Sissi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Düsseldorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romy & Sissi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romy & Sissi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Düsseldorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romy & Sissi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romy & Sissi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Düsseldorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romy & Sissi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
