Romy

Mixed Breed · Female · 7 months

Romy is a young hound mix dog originally from Romania. She is lively and curious for her age, but tends to be a calm representative. She is friendly to people, although she can be initially hesitant in new or unfamiliar situations. Since Romy has not been in Germany for long, she needs to learn many things. This includes not only the basics of training and learning rules and boundaries, but also everyday things like house training, being alone, and car travel. Her new owners should be aware that a lot of time, training, and perseverance will be required, especially since she has her own mind and can sometimes be stubborn. As a hunting dog mix, she brings with her breed-typical characteristics that must be taken into account. Her future owners should be happy to deal with her needs and promote her physically and mentally in a way that is appropriate for her age. If you are interested in getting to know Romy, please contact us. Dogs (walkers) are closed on public holidays.

DE·Show original

Ausführzeiten Hunde (Gassigänger) An gesetzlichen Feiertagen geschlossen.

About Romy

What life with Romy looks like

Romy is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Memmingen in Memmingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Memmingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Memmingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Romy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Memmingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
