Adopt Ronja

Persian · Female · Young · 1 year

Female, neutered, born around 22.02.2025, mixed breed, height about 55 cm / weight about 23 kg. Foster location Spain: Refugio Amposta. Given that Ronja likely carries breeds of the "list dog type" phenotypically, she will not be rehomed in cantons with breed lists. The friendly, people-oriented young female Ronja was sent by Monika, along with her sister Sally, from the Perrera in Vinaros and has been living in the large, mixed pack at the Refugio since March 1, 2026. She gets along well with all fellow animals. Typical of a young dog, she still enjoys playing with her dog friends and is very clingy and open to humans. Anaïs and Daniela got to know Ronja better during their visit and fell completely in love with the beautiful female dog. In new situations, Ronja shows more insecurity but orients herself very well to her human and can easily adapt to the circumstances. Without any problems, Ronja could be socialized with a male dog sitting alone in the kennel; she shows super social behavior. Ronja loves being close to humans, enjoys being petted without becoming pushy or demanding. We see the beautiful, easy-going female dog with active people who want to do many things together and also work on the ABCs of dog training with her, challenging and supporting her. A well-socialized dog is welcome in the new home. Ronja needs close contact with her trusted people. It might take longer for her to trust men. If you would like to learn more about Ronja, please feel free to contact us by email.

About Ronja

What life with Ronja looks like

Ronja is a large young adult persian dog waiting at ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz in Switzerland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ronja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ronja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ronja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ronja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ronja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ronja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ANDANA Pfotenhilfe Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ronja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
