Rony

Unknown · Young · 1 year

Rony was very scared during the first days when we came to the kennel run, he urinated out of fear and was extremely thin. We performed the first anti-parasitic treatment, the doctor during the examination noted poor coat quality, overall poor nutritional condition and the need for an X-ray examination of the hind legs due to continuing lameness. Rony had diarrhea during the first week, but it has now stabilized (he is fed a gastrointestinal diet) and is 3.5 kg heavier and more beautiful. He has been vaccinated and in the second half of February he will have x-rays of the hips to find out the reason for his lameness. He is an amazing dog who slowly has to learn everything, for now we are not offering him for adoption, we have to wait for the examination in Slušovice. 19.2.2026 Our suspicion that no one took good care of him before, not only from the behavioral perspective towards the dog, but also from the side of nutrition, has basically been confirmed by the X-ray examination at the clinic in Slušovice, where it turned out that he has a deformation of the tibia and femur bones - which can be caused by poor diet during the growth period, fortunately the examination of the knees and feet went well, there should be no problem there. He still has a follow-up examination of the shoulder joints, where we have some suspicion of a problem. Otherwise he receives vitamins, joint nutrition, high-quality food, to gain weight, which so far we haven't managed according to our expectations (he has gained weight, but he should gain more), because Rony literally runs all day long in the kennel run, he doesn't stop. He is not restricted in movement, on the contrary, it is necessary for him to go for regular walks. His health condition should definitely be discussed with our veterinarians by the future owner, so that he has all the necessary information. Otherwise we would ideally see Rony in a house with a garden with people who accept him aware that his start in life was not ideal and this can manifest itself both in his health and his psyche. But now we can say that he is a happy dog, cheerful with great energy and is sensitive and grateful, slowly learning everything, learning to walk on walks, he doesn't want to leave the shelter area anymore.... 20.1.2026 was caught in the evening hours this frightened, thin dog, without a collar, chip.

About Rony

What life with Rony looks like

Rony is a large young adult dog waiting at Útulek Zlín-Vršava in Zlín-Zlín 12.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rony, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rony?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Zlín-Vršava handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rony on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rony if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Zlín-Vršava will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rony already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rony isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Zlín-Vršava early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rony and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
