Roofi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Some time ago, we asked for help in finding him a temporary home. Unfortunately, no one responded, and the dog ended up at our area. Today, a new chapter begins – with a new name. Meet Roofie. Before he found himself at the animal shelter, during one of his escapes from the kennel run, he severely injured his leg. He was in a lot of pain, so we took him to a specialist. The diagnosis is serious – Roofie tore his hock in his right hind leg. This is an injury that requires immediate surgery. Unfortunately, at the moment, Roofie is putting a lot of strain on his injured leg and overloading the other, which could lead to further injury. The biggest problem, however, is that after the operation, Roofie will need peace and care, something that cannot be provided in the animal shelter. That's why we are pleading for a temporary home for him. The foundation will cover the costs of maintaining and treating the dog and can provide transportation to the veterinary clinic. Please – help Roofie stand on four legs.

Jakiś czas temu prosiliśmy o pomoc w znalezieniu dla niego domu tymczasowego. Niestety wtedy nikt się nie zgłosił i pies trafił do schroniska. Dziś zaczyna nowy rozdział – z nowym imieniem. Poznajcie Roofiego. Jeszcze zanim znalazł się w schronisku, podczas jednej z ucieczek z kojca poważnie uszkodził łapę. Bardzo kulał, dlatego zaniepokojeni zabraliśmy go do specjalisty.

About Roofi

What life with Roofi looks like

Roofi is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roofi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roofi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roofi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roofi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roofi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roofi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roofi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
