Adopt Rootsuke

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

14.04.2021 A 70+ year old colony cat named Rootsuke arrived at the shelter from a white long-haired female kitten. From the litter, only Rootsuke survived on macaroni and bird food, and the parasite infection left her looking quite thin. Rootsuke has been treated and is healthy, having gained from 1.5 kg to 3.2 kg. One of her smaller siblings still has a pigmented eye, and despite a nearly blind eye from a lingering herpes infection, it doesn't affect her much, but it needs regular cleaning. Rootsuke has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and regularly treated for parasites. We know that every cat deserves a home, and sometimes finding the right match takes a little more time. ADOPT OR FOSTER! Rootsuke is up for adoption or foster care with a lease and a commitment. For inquiries, please fill out the survey beforehand. If interested, write to us, send a message via Facebook messenger, or call 58370708. Adoption and commitment time at our shelter!

14.04.2021 Üru 70+ pealisest kolooniast turvakodusse jõudnud valge pikakarvaline emane kassike. Ülikehvadest oludest tulnud Rootsuke elas makaronide ja linnuluude toidul, parasiiditõrjest sai ta vaid und näha. Rootsuke on terveks ravitud, ta on kosunud ja algselt 1.5 kg kaalunud äbarikust on saanud 3.2 kg kaaluv kaunitar. Üks pisike iluviga on piigal siiski jäänud päris tillukese pojana läbi põetud herpes on jälje jätnud tema silmadele valu need ei tee, aga vajavad aegajalt puhastamist. Rootsuke on steriliseeritud, kiibitud, vaktsineeritud, regulaarselt saanud parasiiditõrjet. Teame, et iga kassi jaoks on kusagil keegi, mõnel juhul võtab kokkusaamine lihtsalt veidi kauem aega. PAKU KODU VÕI HOIUKODU! Koju läheb Rootsuke lepingu ja loovutustasuga, huvilistel tuleb eelnevalt täita ankeet. Huvi korral kirjuta , saada sõnum FB messengeri või hoopis helista 58370708. Lepi kokku aeg ja tule Rootsukesele külla!

About Rootsuke

What life with Rootsuke looks like

Rootsuke is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at MTÜ Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu in Kuressaare.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇪Adopting from Estonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rootsuke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rootsuke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. MTÜ Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rootsuke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rootsuke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — MTÜ Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rootsuke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rootsuke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with MTÜ Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rootsuke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
