Rosalie

Galgo Español · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Rosalie is easy to handle, but in the first days she is a bit shy until she gains confidence in her new surroundings - a completely normal reaction given her sad past. During training with the "car-pull method" - a technique many Galgueros use here to force their Galgos to run - she fell and was hit by the car that was pulling her by the collar. She broke her leg. Normally, Galgos who suffer such severe injuries that they can no longer run are killed immediately; but Rosalie was lucky: since she was a top runner and winner, her owners decided to have the leg operated on. Unfortunately, the recovery did not go as hoped, so she could no longer run. However, they thought of a new use for her: breeding. So Rosalie had to give birth to puppies continuously for years, until they decided that she was no longer suitable for that either. She was to be killed, but fortunately someone from her environment asked for help, and we opened our doors and hearts to Rosalie and her daughter Joy. Rosalie still carries a metal plate in her left front leg. Since it does not currently cause her any problems, specialists advise leaving it where it has been for years. If it causes problems in the future, the appropriate measures can still be taken. Rosalie is very friendly to other dogs and could easily live with any fellow dog. At the moment, Rosalie and Joy are still together, but sooner or later the mother and daughter will probably have to say goodbye to each other. The easiest way to convince Rosalie of something is food; she loves to eat - the perfect way to bribe her. She walks very well on a leash and is house trained, as long as she has the opportunity to go outside. On group walks, she shows curiosity and plays in a calm way. She is initially attentive and cautious of strangers or new fellow dogs, but this reserve is already gone after a few minutes. We are sure that Rosalie will be a very calm dog at home, who appreciates a comfortable bed and forgets about the world around her for a few hours!

About Rosalie

What life with Rosalie looks like

Rosalie is a medium-sized puppy/kitten galgo español dog waiting at TierNotTeam e.V. in Friesoythe.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosalie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosalie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. TierNotTeam e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosalie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosalie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — TierNotTeam e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosalie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosalie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with TierNotTeam e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosalie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
