RosiBASIC CARENEUTERINGBLOOD TESTSMEDICAL COSTS I have no known medical issues but I need blood tests to make sure there are no underlying issuesAsk moreThe sweetest girlHi, I am RosiMy sponsor is Catharine Borgegard&I was found in the middle of September on the suburbs of Heraklion. I was very skinny and had lots of fleas. I had a blood test taken from me and the results were not good at all... I was positive for leishmania. Immediately I got medication for that. After 2 weeks, my blood tests were much better and after 4 weeks even better. I also got some happy news when a more sensitive blood test done in a laboratory in Athens showed that I was leishmania negative! And believe it or not but I had a major step back after that... I had a uterine prolapse. I went to surgery immediately and I was sterilized during the operation. Fortunately after recovering for a few days my health was back to normal. Now I am doing ok, with a good appetite, lots of energy, and a very healthy look. I am not taking any medication now. My next appointment with the vet will be in March 2022, to see how I am doing. I have been living in two foster homes since I first got to the shelter. My first foster was a family with a small son, around 3 years old. I learned a lot about patience with this small human being, so I would be a perfect dog for home with kids. And now I am living in a foster home with another, older dog, so I am able to learn from him a lot ;) I still need some training, but I am a clever girl, so I will be able to learn everything with some love and patience. I am ready to leave my foster behind and finally have a permanent place to stay. I want to experience the loving of a family and be able to have a place to call home. Would you give me that??Want to help RosiSponsorBecome a sponsor an guarantee that their daily needs like food and parasite treatment is covered. About Rosi

What life with Rosi looks like

Rosi is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Gouves Shelter in Heraklion.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Previously positive for leishmaniasis (now negative), requires periodic vet checkups

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gouves Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gouves Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gouves Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
