Adopt Rosie

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

Name: Rosie Breed: mixed breed Gender: female, neutered Size: 49 cm Weight: 20 kg Age: 01.07.2012 In the animal shelter since: 16.05.2023 If you are interested in Rosie, please answer the following six questions in your inquiry first: 1. How many people live in your household? 2. Are there children in the house? If yes, how many and how old? 3. Are there other pets in the house? If yes, which ones? 4. What is the living situation (house/apartment? floor? garden?) 5. How many hours would the dog be alone each day? (Please note: supervision must be provided by adults. Children do not count for supervision!) 6. Do you already have dog experience? 7. Your year of birth? Rosie had to unfortunately return to the animal shelter because her owners had to move into a supported senior living facility due to illness. She did not adapt well to the new environment and bit a caregiver there. She also could not stay with the family of Rosie's owners, as she bit the children when they felt cornered. The return of their beloved female dog to the animal shelter was very hard on the former owners. She lived there well-cared for and was well looked after. Rosie shows herself to us as a lively and sturdy female dog. Through her clear communication, all dog handlers get along well with her. She accepts her muzzle very well and can also go for walks with our leash users, which she enjoys very much. She loves to be stroked and petted, to lie in the sun on the grass (or on the sofa), and she burrows and bathes for hours on end. She shows territorial behavior at times and unsure people must not enter her territory. She currently lives with a confident male dog, which works very well. However, she does not like all dogs. She decides based on sympathy. We are looking for a home for Rosie with responsible and dog-experienced people who can give her the security she needs. There should be no dogs or other pets in the new home so that Rosie can have her new people to herself. Due to the incidents, we also do not place the female dog with families with children. Do you have a question about this animal? Please call us: Tues-Fri 15-17 and Sat 14-17. Or write to us: Some shelter animal may need to be more patient in the search for an appropriate home. This may be due to illness, age, or special character traits. To make the time for these residents as pleasant as possible for them, we rely on the financial support of animal friends. By adopting a sponsorship, you help us with the daily and medical care and housing of our animals. Sponsorships are possible from a monthly contribution of 10 euros. You can also set the amount of your contribution as you see fit. As a thank you, you will receive an individually designed sponsorship certificate and will be mentioned as a sponsor on our homepage and our Facebook page.

Name: Rosie Rasse: Mischling Geschlecht: weiblich kastriert Größe: 49 cm Gewicht: 20 kg Alter: 01.07.2012 Im Tierheim seit: 16.05.2023 Wenn Sie Interesse an Rosie haben, beantworten Sie uns in Ihrer Anfrage bitte zuerst die folgenden sechs Fragen:1. Wie viele Personen leben im Haushalt?2. Leben Kinder im Haus? Wenn ja, wie viele und wie alt?3. Leben andere Tiere im Haus? Wenn ja, welche?4. Wie ist die Wohnsituation (Haus/Wohnung? Stockwerk? Garten?)5.

About Rosie

What life with Rosie looks like

Rosie is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Pfullingen in Pfullingen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Pfullingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Pfullingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Pfullingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
