Ross

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Ross, a 57 cm tall and 25 kg male dog, was found with a complicated leg fracture, resulting in the amputation of his right front leg. Despite this difficult start in life, Ross has a deeply loving character and has adapted remarkably well to his new life on three legs. He is a fascinating mix of breeds, with a strong herding dog influence and possible guardian dog genes. Initially, Ross is shy around strangers and new people, but once he trusts you, he reveals his incredibly gentle, sensitive, and affectionate nature. At his current Romanian foster home, Ross proves to be a very easygoing companion who gets along well with other dogs and cats. We are looking for a loving, patient home for this special dog, ideally in a rural area with a well-fenced garden for relaxation. Due to his amputation, a completely flat home without many stairs is important to protect his remaining joints and allow him to participate in family life without barriers. Although Ross may not be able to run marathons, he also enjoys walks at his own pace and mental challenges like sniffing games. Ross is ready to give his heart forever to his humans and is looking forward to a new beginning filled with security. Ross travels to his new home spayed, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and de-fleaed with his EU pet passport. After a positive pre-check, he can be adopted for a deposit, but a foster home would also be a good start. Thank you Stephanie S., you gave Ross his name and the chance at his personal happy ending. Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 19.09.2026

About Ross

What life with Ross looks like

Ross is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ross, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ross?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ross on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ross if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ross already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ross isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ross and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
