Roxy

Male · Adult · 7 years

Roxy – male, 6 years old, medium-sized Roxy is a street survivor from Marrakech, a dog who has known fear, violence, and loneliness. Repeatedly attacked by other dogs and mistreated by humans, he lived for a long time in a state of constant vigilance, developing self-defense reflexes in order to survive. When we took him in, he still bore the invisible marks of that difficult past. But behind that tough exterior was an immense heart, ready to trust again. Contrary to what his past might suggest, Roxy is deeply attached to people. He loves closeness, seeks out contact, and is very cuddly with the people he cares about. He forms a strong and sincere bond, and simply enjoys being near those who offer him safety and kindness. Roxy gets along very well with females, cats, and farm animals. He is currently living in harmony with donkeys. However, because of his past, he can be dominant toward male dogs. A home without another male dog will therefore be essential for his balance. Small in size, Roxy can easily be carried in your arms. His appearance bears the traces of his history, with the bearing of a little scrapper, but today he is a calm, composed, and serene dog. He is a good watchdog, attentive without being excessive, and above all a deeply endearing companion. Roxy has a unique personality, both touching and full of character. Funny, tender, and loyal, he will bring a great deal of presence and love to the family that opens its heart to him. Adopting Roxy means welcoming a survivor with a big heart, a dog who has learned to love despite everything, and who now only hopes for one thing: to finally belong to someone, forever.

FR·Show original

About Roxy

What life with Roxy looks like

Roxy is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roxy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roxy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roxy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roxy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Roxy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roxy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roxy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
