Roy

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Roy's story began in Bugar, where hunters found him wandering alone. They informed the Animal Protection Center, and thus this kind, young puppy came into our care. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly how he ended up on the streets - but we are certain that despite his past, he is full of hope. Roy is a bit shy and reserved at first. He cautiously approaches, watches, gets to know, as if he just needs time to believe again that a human hand can also caress. We still need to build his trust, but from every small sign it is clear that he longs for love and care. He seeks human company, but is still learning how to let someone close. As a young dog, he certainly needs some more training and guidance. However, with a consistent, patient owner, he can quickly develop and become a true loyal companion. We believe that in a loving, attentive family, Roy will find his place and finally live his life safely and happily. If someone can give him time, patience, and heart, Roy will repay him with quiet devotion and sincere love.

HU·Show original

About Roy

What life with Roy looks like

Roy is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Állatvédelmi Centrum in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Állatvédelmi Centrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Állatvédelmi Centrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Állatvédelmi Centrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
