adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! We mourn the loss of Rubio…:-( His story: Together with his siblings Rubio, Caesar, Crispy, July, Liv, and Oakley, Rubio was abandoned in a forest – without shelter, warmth, or future. But fate was kind to the seven little souls: They were found in time and now live safely in a loving foster home in Cluj. Rubio immediately catches the eye: With his light beige fur and icy blue eyes, he looks almost like a little Husky prince – gentle, playful, and curious about the world. His gaze melts hearts, as does his nature: Rubio is puppy-like in his openness, joyfulness, cuddliness, and sense of adventure. His appearance suggests that Husky genes may be dormant within him. Such mixed breeds are often intelligent, energetic, and independent. This means: Rubio will need an upbringing that combines stimulation and structure later on. Walks, nose work, puzzle games, and exercise make him happy – boredom, on the other hand, does not. Currently, Rubio is still at the beginning of his development. House training, leash manners, being left alone, or everyday distractions like traffic, vacuum cleaners, or strangers – all of this is new to him. Even though he shows openness, he needs a patient and sensitive guide who gives him time to discover the world at his own pace. And then there's also puberty. A phase often underestimated but crucial. What was learned seems suddenly forgotten, ears are on high alert. Boundaries are tested, trust is questioned. Sensitive and clever dogs like Rubio need a lot of patience, humor, loving consequences, and clear structures during this time. Those who consciously accompany this phase not only strengthen Rubio's character but also the relationship immensely. A visit to a positively working dog training class would be a great support – both for Rubio and his new humans, to grow together and become a strong team. Rubio currently gets along well with other dogs, but compatibility with cats has not been tested. Rubio is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. With an EU pet passport in his luggage, he may travel after a positive assessment. A foster home would also make the little guy very happy! Who gives Rubio the life he so deserves – full of love, security, and countless adventures? Many thanks to Laura! You gave Rubio its name! Date: 18.05.

Vielen Dank an Laura! Du hast Rubio seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 18.05.2025

About Rubio

What life with Rubio looks like

Rubio is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rubio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rubio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rubio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rubio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rubio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rubio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rubio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
