Adopt Ruda

Male · Adult · 6 years

Age: 5-6 years Ruda is a tiny chihuahua puppy (under 4 kg) looking for his new home. He is not the dog that will eagerly run to you - on the contrary. He is a timid, uncertain soul who needs time, peace and above all a person who will understand him. He is kind, he does nothing wrong, he never tried to bite us, he just has fear of the world around him. His health condition corresponds to what he probably went through. He has old injuries on his head, presumably from a car accident and an injury on his tail. His teeth are also in bad condition, part of his front teeth is missing and he still needs a full dental check-up. That is why we are looking for a rather calm home for him - not for an active person, but for someone who will give him safety, care and help "heal his soul". We are looking for someone more experienced, who knows how to work with a shy and insecure dog. Someone who will not push him, will give him space and at the same time protect him when he is unsure. He is not yet completely sure on a leash - sometimes he gets confused and could be scared and run away. He will need double security and gradually learn to walk, so he won't be scared. We haven't tested him with other dogs yet, but we assume he might not have problems with them. Ruda is looking for someone who will give him time, peace and the feeling that he is finally safe. If Ruda has caught your attention, please fill out the adoption questionnaire and we will get back to you. Note: The description of the dog is based on his behavior shortly after arriving at the shelter. We try to place dogs as soon as possible in the offer, so they can start looking for a new home as quickly as possible. However, the dog's behavior may change during his stay with us, so we try to continuously update the information and labels. Our time options are limited, so the labels may not always immediately reflect the current state. Please also keep in mind that the dog's behavior may be different in a home environment than in the shelter.

Pokud vás Ruda zaujal, prosíme o vyplnění adopčního dotazníku a my vás budeme zpětně kontaktovat.

About Ruda

What life with Ruda looks like

Ruda is a small adult dog waiting at Útulek Dogsy in Czech Republic.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ruda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ruda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Dogsy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ruda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ruda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Dogsy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ruda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ruda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Dogsy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ruda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
