Ruda

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 8 months

Ruda is a small and delicate female dog. She arrived at the shelter with Bryska, with whom she remains strongly bonded. In the kennel, Ruda usually chooses the farthest corner and tries to remain unnoticed. When a person enters, she retreats, and if she can't leave, she freezes. In new situations, she reacts with great caution and needs time to feel more secure. Her relationship with humans is very difficult at the moment. In the presence of people, she is not interested in treats or toys. She chooses distance and avoidance. Ruda has been in the shelter for some time and, despite daily visits from caregivers, still cannot open up. This shows how much tension she carries and how much she needs a quieter, predictable environment. Touch is very stressful for her. If she is picked up, she allows it, but her body clearly stiffens. This is a signal that she needs time, gentleness, and building a relationship at a very slow pace. We do not observe aggressive behavior from her. In extreme stress, she may make a warning "snapping" of her teeth when trying to be caught. This looks more like an attempt to increase distance than a desire to cause harm. Activity and surroundings Ruda has a low energy level and is a rather calm observer. When she has space and more distance from people, she begins to be interested in her surroundings. She sniffs and calmly explores the area. It also happened that she dug a small burrow in the ground where she wanted to lie down. At the moment, she is not ready to learn to walk on a leash, because the fear of people is still too great. Relationships with other animals Ruda feels much more confident with dogs than with people. On the runway, she was interested in the dogs behind the fence and reacted calmly. She lives with Bryska on a daily basis, who is a big support for her. The ideal solution would be a shared home for both females. What kind of home is Ruda looking for? Ruda needs a quiet, stable home and a caregiver who understands fearful dogs or is willing to patiently learn to work with such a dog. She will best find herself with a predictable, patient, and consistent person who will accept that building trust may take time. We do not recommend a home with young children. A quiet and peaceful environment would be best. A home with a garden may make her first steps in a new place easier, although an apartment is also possible with a conscious and attentive approach from the caregiver. Ruda is the one who needs the most time, peace, and gentleness. It does not promise quick progress, but in the right home, it has a chance to recover a sense of security step by step. Ruda to niewielka i delikatna suczka. Do schroniska trafiła razem z Bryską z którą cały czas pozostaje mocno związana.W kojcu Ruda najczęściej wybiera najdalszy kąt i stara się pozostać niezauważona. Wybiera dystans i unikanie. Węszy i spokojnie eksploruje teren. Najlepsze będzie ciche i spokojne otoczenie. About Ruda

What life with Ruda looks like

Ruda is a small puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ruda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ruda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ruda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ruda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ruda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ruda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ruda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
