adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!RÜDi has found its home! His story: The little RÜDi is waiting for his home! The sweet puppy with the big button eyes looks hopefully into the future and wishes nothing more than to be embraced by people who will open their hearts to him. He is about 4 months old and will likely grow to be small to medium-sized. RÜDi is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes a little mishap shouldn't be held against him and RÜDi should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to the puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent— but lovingly—trained. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! The little RÜDi is ready to embark on his great journey and is looking forward to your request. RÜDi is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. His EU pet passport is already at hand. RÜDi can now be adopted after a positive Many thanks Gritt! You have given RÜDi his name!

Vielen Dank Gritt! Du hast Rüdi seinen Namen geschenkt!

About RÜDi

What life with RÜDi looks like

RÜDi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting RÜDi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RÜDi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RÜDi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RÜDi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RÜDi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RÜDi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know RÜDi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
