Adopt Rufo

Mixed Breed · Male

Rufo is a super sociable dog with people. From the very first moment, he seeks human contact, enjoys feeling accompanied, and never misses an opportunity to ask for affection or draw attention with his charm. He is very affectionate, one of those dogs that clearly enjoys affection and shows it. He has a lot of energy, so he needs plenty of daily exercise and a family that can offer him active walks and time to move around. He is not a dog for a sedentary life: Rufo will be more balanced and happier if he can burn energy regularly. He arrived at our shelter on October 20, 2025, and since then, he has shown himself to be close, expressive, and eager to share his daily life with people. We are looking for a home that understands his level of activity and, at the same time, enjoys his affectionate and sociable nature. Rufo may not promise to be calm all the time, but he is a close companion in the way he wants to be.

About Rufo

What life with Rufo looks like

Rufo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Villena in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rufo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rufo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Villena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rufo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rufo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Villena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rufo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rufo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Villena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rufo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
