Adopt Rukkola

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Origin Country: Hungary The charming Rukkola has been another resident of Menhelys in Kecskemét since March 10, 2026. She came from Nagykörös and lived there with her puppies Roden, Remus, Rami, Roza, Raya, and Rayman, as well as the dogs Britni, Filippa, Tuan, Makrina, Nikander, and Hanka on a completely littered property. The owner was evidently overwhelmed with his own life and could not do justice to the dogs, so they were seized and entrusted to the animal shelter. Capturing them was not easy; there were many hiding spots. Some of the dogs were not so fearful and could be secured on the first day, but for the others, live traps were set up. Thankfully, all were secured and are waiting in the animal shelter for their second chance. Rukkola is a loving and caring dog mother, and the puppies are fortunate to grow up with maternal love, even if the animal shelter is not the ideal place for it. Rukkola is simply irresistible. She is a lively and lovable female dog, friendly, kind, and full of life, bringing lots of love and joy into the new family. She can be intimidated by unfamiliar situations sometimes, but her curiosity takes over quickly. She enjoys every pat and affection and soaks it up like a sponge. The little one needs a lot of love and closeness and does not want to miss out on it ever again. Rukkola still has to learn a bit more about being a dog and what a family member needs to know for their future life, but she is a smart four-legged friend who will quickly understand how the hare runs and wants to please her person. Although she is small, she has the same needs as her larger fellow animals and does not want to be seen as a souvenir. Rukkola gets along well with her fellow animals, but currently lives alone in a kennel with her puppies. (As of April 16, 2026) For our wonderful Rukkola, we are looking for loving and dog-loving people who will take Rukkola in as a true family member, give her a happy and carefree life, and show her what she is capable of. Adventurous two-leggeds, who will finally give Rukkola all the love, care, and security she needs, who will dog-ethically tire her out, and show her the sunny sides of life. Rukkola will surely develop into a great companion who brings lots of joy and stands by her people through thick and thin. Who wants to enter into a lifelong dog-human partnership with Rukkola? Rukkola is not yet spayed, as the birth of her puppies is still too recent. Depending on when she travels, this will be done at the animal shelter or her new owners will have to do it at a later time. Rukkola will travel to a foster home in Switzerland in late May 2026.

About Rukkola

What life with Rukkola looks like

Rukkola is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rukkola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rukkola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rukkola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rukkola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rukkola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rukkola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rukkola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
