Adopt Rumba

Female · Senior · 12 years

Old, 12 years old, spayed. Medium size (about 18-20kg), Chow Chow. Or rather, what's left of a Chow Chow... This little grandmother spent her life on a balcony. Yes... No stimuli, no experiences, practically a life of watching the "world" from the floor of an apartment complex. Time passed, and she was there, every day the same. She was found shaved and overweight, put on a diet in the hope of getting her a bit back in shape, especially considering her age. She likes short walks and sniffing around, she is amazed to discover things she has never seen before. She is looking for a place to spend her old age peacefully, gets along with her own kind and has no pretensions. She is a bit deaf, is independent and does not like too much physical contact (well, who could blame her), but she will be grateful in her own way if someone wants to give her some peace. If there was a small outdoor space it would be perfect, allowing her to move freely given her age-related aches. She is in Verona, but for a good adoption other destinations in the surrounding areas are considered. For Rumba you can contact via WhatsApp message Manu at 3401259077 A presentation is appreciated.

Anziana, 12 anni, sterilizzata. Taglia media (circa 18-20kg), Chow Chow.

About Rumba

What life with Rumba looks like

Rumba is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Animalisti Verona ODV in Verona.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rumba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rumba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animalisti Verona ODV handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rumba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rumba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animalisti Verona ODV will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rumba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rumba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animalisti Verona ODV early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rumba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
