adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Rumo can stay forever in his foster home! His story: Rumo is sovereign, brave, and unobtrusive! He approaches new situations in his own quiet way and masters challenges wonderfully. Although everything is new for the former shelter dog, he manages to integrate into his new life here incredibly quickly when he receives sovereign care. A master of adaptation! Rumo likes people, he also enjoys cuddles, which he happily gets regularly from his foster parents. He is friendly towards strangers and can be petted anywhere. In the garden, he observes temporary people and dogs only and does not bark. With the cat and rabbits in the foster home, he gets along well. The red-haired hero loves to go for a walk on a loose leash, he sniffs around, and reacts finely and quickly to voice signals. Joggers, baby strollers, cyclists, walkers, loud noises… none of these are a problem – they are either quietly observed or simply ignored. So far, he shows no prey drive. When meeting other dogs, Rumo is reserved but open, friendly, and sometimes invites play or continues calmly. Rumo rides in the car, willingly gets in, and stays quietly alone in the car for a while. We are now looking for people who want to continue the successful adaptation process in their lives with this heart dog and give Rumo a loving home for life. The cool male dog will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport for his new home. He will be transferred after a positive home check. We would like to thank Smilla, the namingsponsor, who gave Rumo his name. Many thanks to Karolin W.! You support Rumo with a monthly sponsorship! Date: 03.03.

About Rumo

What life with Rumo looks like

Rumo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rumo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rumo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rumo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rumo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rumo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rumo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rumo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
