Adopt Rupert

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 15 years

by Cattery | Apr 7, 2026 | Cats, Liverpool, Male, Cats, Liverpool, Male, Seniors This handsome fella came to us after a kind member of the public had been feeding him in her garden for a while and was worried about him being outside in all weathers. After asking around her neighbours it was believed that his owners had moved away and left him behind. He is such a friendly older boy who will rattle his tail at you when he’s happy to see you. While he does love to have a snooze, he still very much enjoys getting some love and attention. He is new to the rescue so we are waiting for her vet to do their thorough health check of him where we will hopefully get a more accurate age estimate. He may well also require a dental due to his age, but this will be sorted by the rescue. We obviously don’t know much about Ruperts history so are unsure how he would react to other cats or dogs and we think he would prefer a home with either no or older children due to his older age. Exclusive merchandise available direct from the rescue. Don't miss out, follow the link to make your purchase today.

About Rupert

What life with Rupert looks like

Rupert is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rupert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rupert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freshfields Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rupert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rupert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freshfields Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rupert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rupert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freshfields Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rupert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
