Adopt RUSKY

Galgo Español · Female · Young · 1 year

We pulled her from a dog pound. Poor RUSKY arrived with us having an immense fear of her neck being handled, most certainly because she was captured with a lasso and this has caused her a trauma that we have to fight against as she does not allow us to touch her above her head, which is a problem when putting on a collar and harness. On the plus side, she is a super sociable and affectionate little dog with other dogs, she loves them, and she is also quite greedy. We hope that with the help of her companions and with lots of love and patience, we can gradually help her overcome her trauma. She needs a family that will stand by her and help her, she is a real sweetheart and she can definitely succeed. She is dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, has a Leishmania and 4DX (Heartworm disease, Ehrlichiosis -Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis) test, spayed, has a passport, and comes with an adoption contract.

About RUSKY

What life with RUSKY looks like

RUSKY is a medium-sized young adult galgo español dog waiting at ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting RUSKY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RUSKY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RUSKY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RUSKY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RUSKY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RUSKY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo early rather than rehoming privately; they know RUSKY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
