Russell

Male · Puppy · 10 months

At 9months old, Russell is still very much a pup and will need help learning the basics as well as some more social skills around other dogs. He is a very clever boy which is great for training though does mean he needs to keep him brain busy to avoid him becoming bored. If you are an active home looking for an energetic companion that can keep up with your walking holidays, runs or daily exercise, Russell could be the boy for you! Russell is a 9 month old German Shepherd X Collie who is looking for a very active home, interested in training and that can keep him mentally and physically active. He needs more than a couple of walks a day and his ideal match would be a family that would like to take him hiking or to activities such as agility to really give him the opportunity to burn some energy and use his brain. He is a friendly boy but can show some frustration related behaviours such as jumping up and mouthing if he is bored so any children in the home should be of Older Secondary School age and confident around dogs as well as being on board with his methods of training so this can be consistent. Russell is a high energy boy and will need his own secure garden to provide somewhere for training and play. He will need someone at home with him initially while he settles into his new routine and any leaving hours will need to be built up gradually.

About Russell

What life with Russell looks like

Russell is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at Dogs Trust Snetterton in Snetterton.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Russell, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Russell?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Snetterton handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Russell on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Russell if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Snetterton will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Russell already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Russell isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Snetterton early rather than rehoming privately; they know Russell and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
