Russo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Name: Russo Breed: mixed breed Gender: male neutered Height: SH: 45 cm Weight: 16 kg Age: 05.09.2022 In the animal shelter since: 18.04.2026 If you are interested in Russo, please answer the following six questions in your inquiry first: 1. How many people live in your household? 2. Are there children in the house? If yes, how many and how old? 3. Are there other pets in the house? If yes, which ones? 4. What is the living situation (house/apartment? floor? garden?) 5. How many hours would the dog be alone each day? (Please note: supervision must be provided by adults. Children do not count for supervision!) 6. Do you already have dog experience? 7. Your year of birth? Russo came to us from our partner shelter in Brașov (Romania) in early March 2025. He had already found a home with us, but had to move out after about seven months because his person was overwhelmed by his behavior. Russo shows his best side to his trusted people: He is friendly, people-oriented, actively seeks closeness, and enjoys cuddles. Once trust has been built, he wants to please and shows cooperative and clingy behavior. In his familiar environment, however, Russo reacts territorially. Strangers are barked at loudly and kept at a distance there. Outside his territory, he is often open and curious, but can react insecurely and go forward in certain situations. Therefore, he is currently being carefully trained to wear a muzzle to ensure his and his environment's safety. Russo is an intelligent dog who learns quickly and likes to cooperate – provided he receives a calm, confident, and clear leadership. Russo brings an old injury to his left hind leg: Likely from a previous car accident, he has a healed fracture with beginning arthritis. He therefore requires permanent nutritional support and may need pain medication from time to time. We are looking for a dog-experienced, childless home for Russo that takes his quirks seriously and meets him with patience, structure, and security. Russo is not suitable for beginners. Whoever offers Russo the right leadership wins a loyal, sensitive, and very people-oriented dog who is closely bound to his trusted people. Do you have a question about this animal? Please call us: Monday to Friday 15-17 and Saturday 14-17. Or write to us: Some of our fosterlings may need to be more patient in their search for an appropriate home due to illness, age, or special character traits. To make their time with us as pleasant as possible, we rely on the financial support of animal friends. By adopting a sponsorship, you help us with the daily and medical care and housing of our animals. Sponsorships are possible from a monthly contribution of 10 euros. You can also set the amount of your contribution as you see fit. As a token of our gratitude, you will receive an individually designed sponsorship certificate and be mentioned as a sponsor on our homepage and our Facebook page.

Name: Russo Rasse: Mischling Geschlecht: männlich kastriert Größe: SH: 45 cm Gewicht: 16 kg Alter: 05.09.2022 Im Tierheim seit: 18.04.2026 Wenn Sie Interesse an Russo haben, beantworten Sie uns in Ihrer Anfrage bitte zuerst die folgenden sechs Fragen:1. Wie viele Personen leben im Haushalt?2. Leben Kinder im Haus? Wenn ja, wie viele und wie alt?3. Leben andere Tiere im Haus? Wenn ja, welche?4. Wie ist die Wohnsituation (Haus/Wohnung? Stockwerk? Garten?)5. In seinem gewohnten Umfeld reagiert Russo jedoch territorial.

About Russo

What life with Russo looks like

Russo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Pfullingen in Pfullingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Russo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Russo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Pfullingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Russo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Russo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Pfullingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Russo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Russo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Pfullingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Russo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
