Rybka

Mixed Breed · Female

Rybka is a cat with a mysterious past. She was born and lived in urban sewers together with homeless animals who shared their food with her. The cat had no chance of getting out to the surface, she lived in almost complete darkness, as only through manholes did few sun rays reach her. Due to the planned filling of the sewers, the cats living there were caught, and the manholes were sealed shut. Rybka did not know life on the surface nor the dangers of living in the wild. She never saw cars or the noise of the city. Therefore, she ended up in an animal shelter. Rybka is shy towards people and easily frightened. We are looking for a safe home for her, one that is quiet and calm, with patient and understanding caregivers who will allow her to get used to things at her own pace. Rybka gets along very well with other cats, so she could live in a home where there is already a cat or cats.

PL·Show original

Rybka to kotka z tajemniczą przeszłością. Dlatego trafiła do schroniska.

About Rybka

What life with Rybka looks like

Rybka is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rybka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rybka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rybka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rybka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rybka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rybka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rybka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
