Ryder

Male

Ryder, a heart to tame! He is microchipped and vaccinated. Ryder is a handsome mixed-breed shepherd dog who arrived at the shelter during the summer after being abandoned. He is a sensitive dog who needs time, patience, and above all, someone willing to respect his pace. Ryder is a dog who does not easily give his trust. On the defensive, he can be unpredictable and will need an adopter who can understand his reactions, respect his limits, and never rush him. Trust will not be gained overnight with him, but every small progress will be a great victory! And yet, when Ryder feels confident, he also reveals nice facets of his personality. He can be affectionate with people he likes and let himself go to some playful moments. He is also a foodie and appreciates small rewards that can help create a positive relationship with him. On walks, Ryder is really pleasant: he does not pull on the leash and already has good basic training. Valuable assets for building a beautiful daily complicity. We are looking for a patient, calm, and experienced person who will give him the time to adapt to his new environment, without expecting him to be an immediately easy and demonstrative dog. Come meet him at the Sisteron shelter! For more information, do not hesitate to contact us!

About Ryder

What life with Ryder looks like

Ryder is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Association Canine Sisteronaise in association canine sisteronaise.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ryder, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ryder?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Canine Sisteronaise handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ryder on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ryder if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Canine Sisteronaise will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ryder already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ryder isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Canine Sisteronaise early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ryder and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
