Adopt Sabiondo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

SABIONDO has 2 years and months, is male. For now, he is in a temporary foster home but is still available for adoption. His foster family tells us that "at home, Sabiondo is a perfect dog, clean and very well-behaved. Outside, he's different. Being insecure, he's on high alert in new situations, barking and sometimes nipping at the leash. It's a matter of trust. They've started working with a trainer who has given them some guidelines, and his behavior outside the home is improving significantly." Sabiondo is good with both males and females, not at all dominant with food, walks very well on a leash, is obedient, and has a calm disposition (although, as is typical, he's more nervous in the shelter), clean, and good with children. He has a very good disposition with people; he has always behaved well with everyone in the shelter. Note: this animal has a bite history.

Sabiondo is a two-year-old male. About Sabiondo

What life with Sabiondo looks like

Sabiondo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Oriolana in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sabiondo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sabiondo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Oriolana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sabiondo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sabiondo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Oriolana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sabiondo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sabiondo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Oriolana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sabiondo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
