Adopt Salem

Mixed Breed Β· Female Β· Young Β· 3 years

Meet Salem! πŸ–€ Salem is approximately 3 years old and is currently looking for her forever home. Although she can be nervous she is still a friendly girl who loves company and affection. πŸ’— Since Salem came into us as a stray, we have minimal background on her and therefore don't know her compatibility with dogs or other cats but she hasn't seemed unsettled when seeing other cats here so she may be able to live with another cat. Salem may be able to live with older children 10 years and older subject to successful meet and greets. 😊 If you think you could be a match for this sweet girl please give us a ring on any day of the week between 11am and 2pm.

About Salem

What life with Salem looks like

Salem is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Hull Animal Welfare Trust in South Cave.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Salem, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Salem?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hull Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Salem on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Salem if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Hull Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Salem already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Salem isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hull Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Salem and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
