SALVADOR

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Salvador spent his entire life chained up—until his owner no longer wanted him. No, he’s not a guard dog... There’s simply no explanation for how a dog like him could have lived his life in chains. In fact, there’s no explanation at all for any dog living this way—but in Salvador’s case, it’s even harder to understand. The only explanation is that his former owners had no heart and didn’t care about him at all. Salvador is incredibly sweet and extremely gentle. He’s had a terrible life, and no one has ever truly loved him. He deserves to experience love at the end of his life. He’s a senior dog, but he’s in good health. He’s almost blind, yet he manages to navigate his surroundings and lead a perfectly normal life. Salvador gets along well with other dogs and walks nicely on a leash. We hope that somewhere out there, there’s a person with a big heart who can give him the life he’s always deserved. He’ll be given to his new family vaccinated, dewormed, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.

About SALVADOR

What life with SALVADOR looks like

SALVADOR is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at O Cantinho da Milu in Lisbon.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting SALVADOR, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SALVADOR?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. O Cantinho da Milu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SALVADOR on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SALVADOR if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — O Cantinho da Milu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SALVADOR already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SALVADOR isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with O Cantinho da Milu early rather than rehoming privately; they know SALVADOR and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
