Sammie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Sammie is a gentle, calm dog who experienced life on the streets as a puppy. He was rescued in the Kastraki, Dorida area in early April 2024. During his first months in the shelter, he stayed with two female dogs who took good care of him. Sammie is now healthy and has completed his medical treatment for heartworm. Sammie has a kind and calm character. He is friendly to people and gets along well with other dogs. He has a great relationship with his shelter mates Dark and Minou. Cats are no problem for him, he ignores them. His greatest pleasure is interacting with people. As soon as you come to him, he runs to you, circles around your legs, and asks for attention and hugs. Sammie can walk on a leash and follows his handler curiously. Recently, Sammie was allowed to see the sea for the first time. He enjoyed this new experience visibly and discovered a piece of the big world outside the shelter. For Sammie, we are looking for a loving and quiet home where he feels safe and can fully enjoy attention and companionship. A family that gives him the chance to discover new places together and finally start his own beautiful future. Are you interested in Sammie? Please fill in the interest form for him. We will contact you as soon as possible. To the overview of all dogs for adoption. About Sammie

What life with Sammie looks like

Sammie is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dog Rescue Greece in NL-wide.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sammie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sammie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dog Rescue Greece handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sammie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sammie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dog Rescue Greece will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sammie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sammie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dog Rescue Greece early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sammie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
