Adopt Sammy – Home pending

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 7 months

Approx 7 months old Not yet, too young Please Meet little Sammy! They say the smallest dogs have the biggest spirits, and our sweet boy Sammy is living proof of that. Poor Sammy hasn’t had the best start in life. Instead of being protected, loved and cared for, he had to learn to stay small, hide and be constantly watching out for danger. This sweet little boy was alone living a nightmare on the streets. Sadly Sammy was attacked by a large dog and left in agony, people reported they had seen him but for two days he waited in pain until he was finally found and rescued by our friend Stella and taken to the vets. They cleaned up his wounds and took X-rays , he had 4 broken ribs and an injury to his lungs. Sammy is a little fighter and has bounced right back. Thankfully he plays and acts as if nothing has even happened, vets don’t do surgery on a dog ribs, so they just had to heal on their own, and they have. He is officially pain-free and back to his happy self. In a couple of weeks he will be seen by a specialist for a proper check-over and X-rays, once he has the all clear he will be looking for his very own home where he can finally learn what it’s like to be a much loved family member … Despite everything Sammy has the sweetest nature. He’s so happy, and just loves to play. He’s great with other dogs, loves kids and is cat tested. Truly the perfect little package As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog. About Sammy – Home pending

What life with Sammy – Home pending looks like

Sammy – Home pending is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at 1 Dog At A Time Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sammy – Home pending, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sammy – Home pending?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 1 Dog At A Time Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sammy – Home pending on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sammy – Home pending if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 1 Dog At A Time Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sammy – Home pending already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sammy – Home pending isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 1 Dog At A Time Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sammy – Home pending and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
