adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Samson has found a home! His story: Quiet, loving, friendly – that's Samson. The approximately ten-year-old male dog is a true treasure: friendly to people, compatible with other dogs, and simply happy about every small attention. He loves being close to his people, enjoys cuddles and treats, and shows remarkable composure in new situations. On walks, he walks nicely on the leash – although he can develop a bit of a lead with his imposing stature. His eyes tell a story of gratitude. One can sense that Samson has not experienced much goodness so far, yet he gives every moment trust and joy. He is simply happy about everything he gets – as if he knows how valuable that is. Samson was rescued from the public shelter in Zalău – a place where dogs like him have little chance. Whether he once had a home or was caught as a stray, we do not know. What is certain is that he survived because he was seen. Now, he longs more than anything to finally arrive – in a warm dog bed, with people who love him. Samson is about 10 years old, quiet, friendly, and balanced. He loves being close to people and enjoys every affection. In new situations, he shows no insecurity – quite the opposite: everything he experiences seems special to him. He meets his environment with a remarkable calm and composure. He gets along well with other dogs but needs guidance from his people. Likely due to years of deprivation, he still shows a resource theme with food and affection. With dog-experienced people by his side, this can be handled well, and rules can be established together. He already walks quite nicely on the leash on walks, although with his shoulder height of about 56 cm and around 30 kg, he can develop a bit of a lead. We are looking for people with heart and patience who are willing to give security to an older dog. A quiet home with a garden or ground-level access would be ideal. Samson probably does not know what life in a house is like – with loving guidance and time, he will quickly learn what it means to be part of a family. After a positive Samson transport, his guardian will be covered – so he can travel to a place of grace! Winter is knocking on the door in Romania – cold, wet, and merciless. Please help Samson before it's too late. He deserves a warm place, and a foster home would be a great help to give him the first time in his life security. It's high time for Samson's happiness – who would like to give it to him? Many thanks, Daniela S., for taking over his namesship! Many thanks, Marena D.-W.! You support Samson with a monthly paternity! As of 17.11. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vielen Dank Marena D.-W.! Du unterstützt Samson mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! Stand: 17.11.2025

About Samson

What life with Samson looks like

Samson is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Samson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Samson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Samson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Samson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Samson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Samson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Samson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
