Bailey

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Waiting in a foster home in Mallorca: Bailey, a mixed-breed male just 1½ years old, who has simply had no luck at all in his young life so far. Apart from the last few weeks, which Bailey was able to spend in a foster home here on the island, in the great hope that it would become a "forever home." Unfortunately, however, the personal situation of the foster family changes drastically from mid-March, and Bailey will then no longer be able to stay there. So we hope for nothing more than to find a new family for this wonderful fellow by then. Bailey's path so far has been marked by a great deal of upheaval: his previous stations included the Perrera Natura Park on Ibiza, then the Perrera Natura Park on Mallorca, and then our animal shelter in Calvià. We want to do everything we can to ensure he doesn't have to return to us at the animal shelter in Calvià, because otherwise that would be the only option from mid-March. Bailey is a very friendly young male who, of course, hasn't learned much in his life so far. His current foster family is working intensively on this with him, and Bailey is making more and more progress. He is a very intelligent dog who absolutely needs people who can truly meet his needs in terms of exercise, but also, above all, mental stimulation, and who will continue to work with him. Currently, Bailey lives in a relatively small apartment, and we notice that while it somehow works, it is not the perfect solution for everyone. A house with a garden or a large, ground-floor apartment with direct access to nature would really be much better. Bailey simply needs the opportunity to be able to run freely from time to time. So far, he has never shown any problems with other dogs. Cats should definitely not be in his new home. Bailey absolutely needs a home with people who have a lot of time to spend with him. Because of the many different stations and the associated, forced "being alone" that he has experienced, he still has insecurities and problems being left alone for any length of time. This definitely needs to be worked on with him, and he needs time to learn this through trust. It is very important to know this. Otherwise, Bailey is a great dog at a truly ideal age, a dog who, with a little more work, will certainly be a wonderful companion through life. Please share our search so that we can find his new people and he won't have to return to us at the animal shelter.

About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vergessene Pfoten Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vergessene Pfoten Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vergessene Pfoten Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vergessene Pfoten Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
