Adopt Samu

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 2 years

Samu Tier-ID: 1083 Adopted at the animal shelter since 12.03.2026 (Current Interested Parties: 0) Samu is a true character, always knowing what he wants—and what he doesn’t. If something doesn’t suit him, he makes it clear in no uncertain terms. That’s why we’re looking for people who understand cats, respect his signals, and accept him as he is. Samu is not difficult in the classical sense: once he’s settled in and feels secure, he becomes a friendly and pleasant companion. He just needs some time and people who give him space and don’t pressure him. Unfortunately, not much is known about Samus’s past since he arrived as a found cat. That’s why it’s so important that he now finds a home where he feels accepted and secure. After an appropriate settling-in period, Samu wants to enjoy free roam again. Samu is not a tomcat for beginners or for those looking for a uncomplicated snuggly cat; he’s for those who appreciate the special and want to give a characterful tomcat a home. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Samu

What life with Samu looks like

Samu is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Samu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Samu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Samu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Samu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Samu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Samu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Samu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
