adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Samurra has found her forever home! Her story: Her name means "gentle," and that perfectly describes our Samurra. Unfortunately, her life has been anything but gentle: Born on the streets, she spent her early months there—always searching for food and a safe place. Eventually, she was taken in by the dog catchers and brought to the public shelter—a terrible place no dog should ever be. Especially not a sweet, open, and people-oriented little soul like Samurra. The pretty Samurra is about 5–6 months old, weighs around 15 kg, and is distinguished by her bright fur, which harmonizes beautifully with her darker snout. When fully grown, she is expected to be a medium-sized female dog. As a typical mixed breed, her exact lineage is hard to determine—however, she could have a bit of German Shepherd in her, which makes her not only smart and attentive but also particularly loyal. Samurra desperately needs a home where she can settle in peace and have the opportunity to learn and play. She wishes for someone who will teach her the basics of being a dog with patience and understanding, train her, and nurture her. Even the upcoming puberty should be tackled together. An enclosed backyard would be nice, but it's not a must—what's more important are people who will give her time, affection, and a permanent place in their hearts. Samurra meets other dogs friendly and amicably. She has not met any cats. The young lady is breed-specifically very eager to learn and wants to be challenged both physically and mentally. She needs active people who enjoy being outdoors and like to challenge her with exciting tasks and new challenges. Dog sports could be a great way to discover new things together—maybe Samurra has a hidden talent just waiting to be awakened! After a positive health check, spaying is age-dependent and not yet possible. Samurra already has the best qualities to become a wonderful companion. Where are her people? A foster home could also help her escape the lonely cage life. Many thanks, Chris W., for taking on her namesake sponsorship. As of April 1. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. Some symptoms here are age-related.

Stand: 01.04.2025

About Samurra

What life with Samurra looks like

Samurra is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Samurra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Samurra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Samurra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Samurra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Samurra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Samurra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Samurra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
