Sancho (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Name: Sancho Born: 17.10.2019 Gender: male dog, not neutered Breed: mixed breed Size: rather small, (ca. 35 cm) Foster home: Sancho has made it and has settled well at his foster home in the Rheingau. He can be visited there. The ages mentioned here are often estimates, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Sancho has settled well at his foster home in the Rheingau. Foster home report: Sancho is really a great and sweet dog and a clever fellow. He is happy with his people and sad when someone goes. He can also be left alone for a short time. He would also make a great second dog, as he gets along super well with all other dogs. But he would also be happy to be an only dog. He likes to snuggle, is attentive, and wants to discover the world. With people, whether big or small, he is always friendly and enjoys cuddles. When he encounters cats outside, he tries to hunt them. As reported, he is very clever. Today, he even managed to escape from his crate. He is house-trained, travels without problems in the car, and gets along with everyone. He already walks quite calmly on a leash. Sometimes he gets scared by unknown noises, but that passes quickly. Sancho, the little Spaniel, was found by our animal protection colleagues in Almeria at a gas station while searching for food. He is now getting his vaccinations and will be neutered, then can stay with Marcos in the dog shelter. By the end of May 2021, he will be ready for travel, and we would be very happy if we can find a foster home or a family for him here in Germany by then. About Sancho (vermittelt)

What life with Sancho (vermittelt) looks like

Sancho (vermittelt) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sancho (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sancho (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sancho (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sancho (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sancho (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sancho (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sancho (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
