Sandi (w)

Mixed Breed · Female

Sandi is a 35 cm tall female dog who was found alone in a forest in Romania. She is extremely social, seeks human contact, and behaves unlike a dog that has spent its life on the streets. She was likely abandoned by someone who no longer wanted her. Dana, who took her in, is currently keeping her on her private property where she lives with a small pack of dogs. Dana tries to keep the smaller dogs there for as long as possible, as larger dogs can be a threat in a large shelter. This means Sandi has a lot of human contact, which she enjoys. She is extremely friendly, open, and has integrated well into the pack. She gets along well with the other dogs, plays with them, and is full of life. A special sweetness: Sandi loves toys and plays with them enthusiastically. There are also cats on the property, with no problems. If cats live in her future home, we can test her compatibility with cats. Overall, Sandi is a dream dog: friendly, playful, social, people-oriented, and full of life. Now she just needs a home of her own. A home where she will never have to experience being abandoned again. A home with people who will love her and keep her as a family member. Sandi is spayed, vaccinated multiple times, dewormed, chipped, and has an EU passport. We will conduct a Snap-4D test before departure. Contact: Sandi is being placed through Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. with a pre-check and contract. The association is in compliance with §11 of the Animal Welfare Act. We will continue to support you after adoption - for both humans and animals. Sandi will arrive in 91278 Pottenstein, where she will be picked up. Transportation will be via Traces. There is a secure area available. We ask for your understanding that we do not want to pick her up at a parking lot and would like to meet you and your new friend in person.

About Sandi (w)

What life with Sandi (w) looks like

Sandi (w) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sandi (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sandi (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sandi (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sandi (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sandi (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sandi (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sandi (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
