Santa

Female · Young · 1 year

Hello everyone! 🐾 Let me introduce myself: my name is Santa, I am a very sweet little girl born in September 2025. I weigh 13 kg and am a small-sized mixed-breed dog. Unfortunately, my life did not start well. For the first six months of my life, I lived on the streets until I was hit by a car. The accident left me with a broken leg, and I now have a metal plate in my thigh that I will keep for the rest of my life. But don’t let my past fool you: today I am completely pain-free and walk normally without any limp. I run, play, and enjoy life just like any happy young dog! I am a very sweet and loving girl who adores people and gets along well with other dogs. I am calm and indifferent around cats. I travel well in the car, am comfortable in a crate, and happily eat my kibble. My mother, siblings, and I also went through another terrible experience when we were attacked by the largest dogs in the village. Thankfully, we were rescued and brought to safety. However, I am still living in a shelter in Albania. Now I dream of having a family of my own, a soft sofa to curl up on, and someone who will love me forever. My paw tells part of my story, but it does not stop me from living a happy and active life. I would love the chance to show you that for myself! 🩷 I am currently in Albania, but for the right adoption I can travel anywhere in Europe. I am vaccinated, spayed, and 4DX negative. 🐶 If you would like to give me a chance, I am waiting here for you. 👉 I am vaccinated, spayed and have tested negative for Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, Dirofilaria, Brucellosis and Leishmania. 👉 Adoption subject to a home check, adoption contract, and adoption fee (RBU included). 📝 Foster/adoption form: 📞 🇮🇹 Chiara (WhatsApp) – 🇬🇧 Chiara (WhatsApp only) – 🇩🇪 Sabrina (WhatsApp)

About Santa

What life with Santa looks like

Santa is a small young adult dog waiting at Furry Rescue Italy in Nazionale.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Santa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Santa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Furry Rescue Italy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Santa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Santa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Furry Rescue Italy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Santa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Santa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Furry Rescue Italy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Santa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
