Adopt Santi

Mixed Breed · Female

Santi is a 4-year-old female dog who does not benefit from living in a shelter. She has spent her entire life confined behind bars. She has never gone for walks and has never known love. She was taken along with her mother and brother, and lived with them all her life in a tiny, unsanitary kennel run. Upon arriving here, she was inseparable from Pusia - her mother, and we looked for a home for both of them together. Unfortunately, adoptions in pairs are extremely rare. Pusia has already found a wonderful home and Santi is now alone. She is a medium-sized sun (about 20kg). She reacts well to dogs of similar size or larger. She hunts cats, and sometimes treats smaller dogs like cats, so she is not suitable for a home with very small dogs. She is also not suitable for a home with children. Santi is slowly beginning to trust people. She is calm and does not mark. We would like to find her a home that will show her that she can be loved and important. She is 4 years old, healthy, vaccinated and dewormed, and will need to be spayed. We would very much like to see the spark of joy in her sad eyes again, so if your heart melted at the sight of her and you want to adopt her or provide her with a temporary home, please contact us.

About Santi

What life with Santi looks like

Santi is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Santi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Santi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Santi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Santi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Santi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Santi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Santi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
