Adopt Sarabi

Female · Adult · 6 years

Sarabi is a beautiful 6-year-old Swiss Shepherd. She was adopted by us last year but unfortunately had to be returned now due to a move. Sarabi is simply fine living indoors both during the day and at night. At night she slept on the couch. Sarabi did not live with other animals. Sarabi is a very loving dog towards people and a real cuddler within her family. However, she does not get along with other animals. Sarabi is not car sick and really enjoys going in the car. She could easily be left alone at home for up to four hours. She is housebroken and does not chew anything anymore. In her previous home, the garden fence was 1m80, then she tried not to escape. In short, Sarabi is therefore a fantastic dog with only one 'drawback' that she does not get along with other animals. Now Sarabi is looking for her very last golden bed where she will choose it with 200% certainty and never have to leave again. Sarabi is looking for a place where she can be queen of the house without other animals. She is not placed with children. Sarabi is an active lady and is looking for an active family that wants to do a lot with her. She is only placed with people where she can fully be part of the family. Who can give her this golden bed?

Read original (nl)

About Sarabi

What life with Sarabi looks like

Sarabi is a adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus in Aalst.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sarabi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sarabi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sarabi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sarabi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sarabi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sarabi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sarabi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
