Adopt ŠARKO

Mixed Breed · Male

ŠARKO is our big guy looking for a home. He is 63cm tall, making him one of the largest dogs in our shelter. ŠARKO is a typical shepherd dog, loyal to people, cautious towards strangers and territorial. He is still very young, born in 01/2024, and we believe that with proper training and a dog school he would be a perfect dog. An ideal home for him would be a house with a large yard where he could enjoy playing and running around. He currently shares his home in the shelter with a female dog with whom he gets along very well, but he is not particularly friendly with males. Due to his large build, we do not recommend him for families with small children, and he is certainly not a dog for beginners or people without experience with similar breeds. ŠARKO is loved by our team, so we believe he will also win your hearts and soon find the home he deserves! Microchip number: 191035000232118.

About ŠARKO

What life with ŠARKO looks like

ŠARKO is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Udruga Spas Varaždin in Varaždin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting ŠARKO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ŠARKO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Udruga Spas Varaždin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ŠARKO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ŠARKO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Udruga Spas Varaždin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ŠARKO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ŠARKO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Udruga Spas Varaždin early rather than rehoming privately; they know ŠARKO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
