Sasha

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Young · 1 year

This gorgeous girl is Sasha! She is searching for a loving forever home where she can continue to build her confidence and enjoy life to the fullest. She can be timid and nervous when meeting new people, but all she needs is a little time and patience. Once she gets to know you, her true personality shines through! She transforms into a bouncy, giddy girl who is full of energy and fun and absolutely loves being around people. She adores fuss and attention and will happily soak up all the love you have to give. She’s very playful, loves her toys and is always ready for a game of fetch. Her excitement does mean she can be a little enthusiastic and has a habit of jumping up to say hello, so this is something her new adopter will need to continue working on. She already knows her basic commands and is a clever girl, but she would benefit from some continued training, particularly her lead manners as she does pull when out on walks. She will thrive in an active home that can provide plenty of exercise, playtime and mental stimulation. She will need a private secure garden. Sasha has socialised with other dogs whilst in our care, and although she is very interested in them she is very unsure of how to interact, so we feel she would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where she can continue building up her confidence around other dogs with the full support of her new adopter and lots of positive reinforcement. As she came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.

About Sasha

What life with Sasha looks like

Sasha is a medium-sized young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sasha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sasha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sasha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sasha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sasha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sasha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sasha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
