adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Satsuma has found a home! Her story: 20097 Hamburg. Satsuma has lived in her foster home since mid-December and shows great openness and friendliness to everyone. Our dream dog is searching for her forever home! The beautiful Satsuma was found on the streets in Romania and lived in an animal shelter there. Satsuma – this means Mandarin in Japanese. A fitting name for this captivating female dog who shines in a warm, pretty orange tone. She is 1.5 years old and stands 47 cm at the shoulder. The peaceful female dog is incredibly friendly to all people she interacts with. She also gets along well with other dogs. In short, simply a dream dog! Now, the balanced lady just wishes for an environment that can give her plenty of cuddles, long walks, and playtime! The mouse is only 1.5 years old and is still a young dog. Therefore, we are looking for people who are not expecting much from her at first. Her new heart people should be ready to spend quality time with the female dog and teach her the entire doggie ABC with patience and affection. This should be done with consistent, but loving guidance. A dog training class that works with a positive reinforcement training style would certainly bring great joy to the young female dog. Satsuma is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, she possesses an EU pet passport, and will only be placed after a positive evaluation. Has Satsuma managed to make your heart beat a little faster? We look forward to your inquiry! Many thanks, Jenn! You have given Satsuma her name!

About Satsuma

What life with Satsuma looks like

Satsuma is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Satsuma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Satsuma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Satsuma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Satsuma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Satsuma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Satsuma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Satsuma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
