Adopt Scarlett

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Scarlett is a mixed-breed female dog born in October 2024, who was found in the forest with her mother Smilla and five other siblings (Selena, Sydney, Sayana, Samantha, and Safira) as a puppy and brought to the shelter. She is ready for adoption and is eagerly waiting for a caring family. Since she has been back in the enclosure, she misses the intense bond she had with her humans very much. Therefore, she has now become very attached to her kennel dog companion, whom she loves very much. Scarlett is generally very social and compatible with other dogs and enjoys their company. Her behavior towards cats and other animals is unknown. Therefore, we are looking for a loving home where there is already a friendly dog, with whom she can orient herself and share her life. Her future humans should have plenty of time for her and be able to give her the attention, affection, and closeness that she needs so much. Ideally, Scarlett would thrive in a quiet home in the countryside with a garden where she can relax. Long walks in a quiet, rural environment would do her a lot of good. A life in the city, however, would not suit her. The height of the female dog is 42 cm and she weighs about 17 kg. She is currently in the shelter in Serbia.

About Scarlett

What life with Scarlett looks like

Scarlett is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Scarlett, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Scarlett?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Scarlett on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Scarlett if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Scarlett already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Scarlett isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Scarlett and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
