Adopt Schiggy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Schiggy hatched in 2023, is almost invisible in the Hahnen WG. He avoids everyone and the last thing he wants is stress. He is sometimes a bit overwhelmed in the Hahnen WG and only ventures out when everyone is busy and not looking at him. He seems to prefer simply being left in peace and we wish for a home where he can have exactly that. We think he would suit well as a second or third rooster due to his peaceful nature. We only place our hens and roosters with you under the condition that any eggs laid or fertilized by our animals must not be incubated. Breeding animals is counterproductive for animal protection. Our hens and roosters are only placed with you after they have been dewormed and vaccinated by us. Please contact us here by message or by phone at these numbers: Monday to Friday from 10-18h. We are a recognized, registered animal welfare association and work with current veterinary permits according to §11 Paragraph 1 Section 5 TierSchG (not to be confused with §11 LHundG!). Please always inform yourself about the origin of the animals and whether the necessary permits are in place to prevent illegal trade and the suffering it causes. Thank you. Your team from www.NotPfote.de TSV Notpfote Animal Rescue e.V.

About Schiggy

What life with Schiggy looks like

Schiggy is a young adult mixed breed animal waiting at Tierheim Wuppertal in Wuppertal.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Schiggy far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schiggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schiggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wuppertal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schiggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schiggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wuppertal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schiggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schiggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wuppertal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schiggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
