Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Schnauzbert has found a home! His story: Abandoned as small puppy babies and just in time rescued from the public shelter… was the start of a new life. Schnauzbert and his sister Latoya are searching for their great happiness – their own home! With just two months old, Schnauzbert and Latoya were found on the grounds of the public animal shelter in Zalau and rescued by our volunteer Heni from the shelter. Now they live in our private shelter, but this is not a permanent place for such young puppy children who need safety and a well-protected home. Schnauzbert is currently around 3 months old, has a body height of around 34 cm, and weighs about 6 kg. Schnauzbert is a very sweet puppy and shows typical puppy behavior. He is very curious, friendly, loves to play and explore everything. He gets along well with the other puppies and loves treats. Schnauzbert is very happy about any kind of affection and cuddles, which are not given in the same measure as Schnauzbert needs and deserves in his young puppy life. For Schnauzbert, we wish for a loving family that meets him with much love and empathy and is aware that Schnauzberg does not yet know life in a family. The young puppy must still learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is still ahead of him. Here, he needs people who approach with much love and patience, possibly also attend positive dog training classes with him, forgive him one or two mishaps, and meet the learning with much patience and great joy. Leash walking, house training, and being alone are still foreign words to him. During puberty, he will certainly test boundaries and perhaps even forget some things he has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Schnauzbert will definitely be a great partner in life. The sweet puppy is always ready to discover new things and is already looking forward to many adventures with his new family. His new primary caregiver will surely quickly realize what a gain Schnauzbert is for the family. Schnauzbert is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive foster home experience. We would be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet guy! Spontaneously in love or a loving spot for care – then get in touch quickly! Many thanks, Silvie S.! You gave Schnauzbert his funny name! Date: 15.07.

Vielen Dank Silvie S.! Du hast Schnauzbert seinen lustigen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 15.07.2024

About Schnauzbert

What life with Schnauzbert looks like

Schnauzbert is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schnauzbert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schnauzbert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schnauzbert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schnauzbert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schnauzbert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schnauzbert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schnauzbert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
