Schnucki

Unknown · Young · 1 year

Schnucki was brought to us, as she unfortunately became a bit behavioral in her previous home. Schnucki was unfortunately kept without a partner from a young age, and we suspect this is also the reason for her behavioral issues. She began to increasingly attack and even bite her owner at night. We have already had the rather young rabbit get to know this situation. We would currently assess that she absolutely does not like being confined, and she will sometimes defend herself with her teeth. So far, she seems to get along surprisingly well with her fellow animals, although she still needs to get used to her new situation. In her new home, she should already have a large enclosure or a rabbit hutch with a nice fellow animal waiting for her. If available, she can bring a suitable partner from our shelter or there is already a nice buck waiting for her. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Schnucki

What life with Schnucki looks like

Schnucki is a large young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schnucki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schnucki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schnucki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schnucki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schnucki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schnucki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schnucki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
