Adopt Schnurrbert

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 3 years

Are you ready? Because here I come - Schnurrbert. On a stray pickup, I was picked up - because I definitely didn't belong there and might have even started a few arguments. But you understand, right - there was food there! I am a very friendly tomcat and carry the shelter nickname "Wuchtbrumme" here. I've developed a little paunch, and that's only for one reason: so that you love me more. You are allowed and should pet me all day long - on my head, on my neck, over my tail, and even - on my paunch. I simply can't pass by people without at least ramming my head against their legs, but I usually just fall down and expect to be petted. I don't get along well with other cats; I want my humans' hands for myself! I'm very afraid of dogs. I unfortunately have FLUTD, which is a bladder disease that affects around 10% of all cats. I need special bladder food. Additionally, my pancreas values are not quite right, and this should be further observed in the new home. I am looking for a home in an apartment where people have a lot of time for me and would like to pet my fluffy fur all day long. Other animals should not live in the same household, but children are no problem. Does it sound perfect for you? Then sign up!. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

Dann melde dich doch!Dein Schnurrbert

About Schnurrbert

What life with Schnurrbert looks like

Schnurrbert is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: FLUTD (bladder condition requiring special diet) and pancreatic values need monitoring

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schnurrbert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schnurrbert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schnurrbert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schnurrbert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schnurrbert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schnurrbert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schnurrbert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
