Schüchternes Peterle

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Rüden, born approximately December 2023, approximately 35 to 40 cm, vaccinated, chipped, tested for Babesiose, Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Dirofilaria, and Leishmaniasis prior to departure. Adoption fee 350 Euro. The little Peterle from Romania was given up with another dog at a pet food store. When the shelter of our animal rescuers received another food delivery, the driver told them about the two dogs and asked if he could bring them to the shelter. Of course, he was allowed to. So the driver brought Peterle and the other dog to the shelter the next day. But Peterle's buddy quickly escaped and ran back to the pet food factory. He obviously felt safe and comfortable there, so the employees decided he could stay and become the dog of the house. He will probably never run out of food there... Peterle stayed at the shelter with our animal rescuers and is now looking for a home. Peterle was uncertain at first - who can blame him? Everything was new and his buddy had left him. He approaches new people with a healthy skepticism and always needs some time to gain trust. He is an uncertain, but not an anxious dog, who always throws himself into his current situation and adapts. Peterle will develop further and become more confident as soon as he has learned that people do not want to harm him. He mastered a first walk on a leash surprisingly well. He shows himself to be compatible with the other dogs in the shelter. We are looking for a dog-experienced, quiet and empathetic home for Peterle, preferably with a house and garden. Also a foster home. Contact via or WhatsApp 66.

About Schüchternes Peterle

What life with Schüchternes Peterle looks like

Schüchternes Peterle is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schüchternes Peterle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schüchternes Peterle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schüchternes Peterle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schüchternes Peterle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schüchternes Peterle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schüchternes Peterle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schüchternes Peterle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
